Workplace Mental Health

According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 300 million people worldwide are affected by anxiety and depression - both of which can be related to stress.

So a good question is 'How do I combat workplace stress?'

Below is a small list of things that you can do that should help you to ease the effects of workplace stress

  • Take breaks: Take regular breaks throughout the day to give your mind and body a chance to rest. This can be a brief walk around the block, a few minutes of meditation, or just doing something that helps you relax.
  • Improve your time management skills: Stress can be caused by feeling overwhelmed by tasks. By improving your time management skills, you can better plan and prioritise tasks, allowing you to complete them more efficiently and reduce stress.
  • Talk to someone: Talking to a trusted colleague or manager about your stress can help you gain perspective and develop a plan to manage it.
  • Exercise: Exercise is a great way to reduce stress and improve your mental and physical health. Try to fit in some physical activity every day, even if it is just a few minutes.
  • Eat a healthy diet: Eating a healthy diet can help reduce stress. Try to include plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins in your diet.
  • Get enough sleep: Getting enough sleep can help reduce stress and improve your overall wellbeing. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
  • Talk to a professional: Talking to a professional about workplace stress can help you to better understand the source of the stress and to find ways to manage it.
